The BLMA Models Norfolk Southern Top Gon coal cars arrived in three lettering schemes, twelve numbers in each scheme, get them while they are available!

Bowser has shipped Executive Line EMD F7 A units in BAR, and assembled 70 ton covered hoppers in Monon, Chessie/WM, Spokane International, and Central of New Jersey.

Con-Cor has released the North Shore ElectroLiner four car train in two number sets.

New Kadee freight cars this month include Rock Island and RF&P 50 foot box cars.

Roundhouse Trains has released 36 foot old time reefers in Manufacturers Railway/Purina and NYLE&W/Erie; and 40 foot wood boxcars in Santa Fe, Great Northern, and Northern Pacific.

Sylvan Scale Models shipped their Great Lakes ore boat model, both the basic boat and the add-on sections.

N Scale:

Athearn has shipped Flxible busses in Badger, Utah Parks, Fred Harvey, and Consolidated.

Atlas has released their GE Dash 8-40CW in Santa Fe with DCC; and Trainman 40 foot PS1 box cars in D&M, G&W, Northern Pacific, Reading, and Virginian.

Digitrax has released their new SuperChief Xtra Duplex radio equipped DCC starter sets..

Lionel has shipped the new Eastern Freight Expansion Pack, the new New York Central Flyer 0-8-0 starter train set with TrainSounds, a Lionel Lines 0-8-0 steam switcher, Erie animated gondola, Lehigh Valley depressed flatcar with load, Pennsylvania Power & Light 3 bay coal hopper, and restocks on 80 watt transformers and yard lights.

Large Scale:

We have received new LGB starter train sets for the first time in over two years! Also received a few additional track and accessory items from LGB.

And we have a new LGB catalog!

Calendars:

We have received a number of new 2010 calendars from Tide-Mark: Colorado Narrow Gauge, Howard Fogg’s Trains, Norfolk & Western, Pennsylvania Railroad, Railroading, Robert Allison’s Passenger Trains, Santa Fe, Those Remarkable Trains, and Western Maryland. See, there will be a 2010 after all!

Books:

Melvin Photos has released Tehachapi Today!, an all color modern look at BNSF and UP on Tehachapi.

Morning Sun has shipped two new titles: Pennsylvania Railroad Facilities In Color Volume 4: Chesapeake Division; and Ontario Northland In Color.

Future:

Athearn has provided an update on their EMD SD70ACe/SD70M-2 tooling which they acquired from Tower 55. Athearn is working on various detail parts, options, and variations on these locomotives, which will be available with the Genesis drive; sound equipped models will come with Soundtraxx Tsunami DCC and sound. Athearn hopes to announce the first road names and paint schemes later in 2009 for the first production run.

Athearn has announced N scale 50 foot modern tank cars in six schemes including BNSF and UTLX; 57 foot mechanical reefers in six schemes including PFE, UPFE, and SPFE; ACF 2970 center flow covered hoppers in six schemes including BNSF, EL, and WM; 50 foot Berwick box cars in six schemes including CSX and GTW.

BLMA Models has announced the second run of the Norfolk Southern Top Gon coal cars in both HO and N scales. This second release will be of new G-86R class cars in two schemes: G-86R with Top Gon logo, and G-86-R with Top Gon logo and yellow conspicuity stripes. There will be 12 car numbers available in each of the two schemes, for a total of 24 new car numbers. Delivery is anticipated before the end of 2009; reserve now with The Train Station - reserve six or more cars for $22.00 each in HO scale.

Kato is making a change or correction to their recently announced N scale Santa Fe El Capitan Hi-Level passenger train. The set will still be offered in a 10 car basic set and a 2 car add-on set; however, previously the add-on set was going to include two baggage or storage mail cars, now the add-on set will include one storage mail car and one Hi-Level chair car while the second baggage car will now be included in the basic 10 car set.

MTH has announced more new HO scale products. New steam locomotives will include a 4-6-6-4 Challenger steam loco in Union Pacific, Clinchfield, and Rio Grande; a New York Central 4-6-4 streamlined Dreyfuss Hudson with either Scullin or Box Pok drivers, and a New York Central Empire State Express streamlined Hudson. New HO freight cars will include USRA 55 ton twin coal hoppers in singles and six packs in Big Four, C&O, NYC, PRR, Clinchfield, B&O, Western Maryland, Erie, N&W, Milwaukee, CNW, UP, Rio Grande, L&NE, Central Railroad of Pennsylvania, and P&WV; R40-2 wood reefers in Anheuser Busch, Miller, Coors, Iron City, A&W, Snickers, Milky Way, and Dr Pepper. And there will be HO passenger trains and cars to go with the NYC streamlined Hudsons: 20th Century in Dreyfuss 1940 paint scheme; 20th Century in Dreyfuss 1938 paint scheme; and an Empire State Express set. The 20th Century sets will come as five car sets including an RPO, dormitory lounge, diner, 17 roomette sleeper and sleeper observation car; an individual Imperial series 4-4-2 sleeper; and two car sets including a Cascade series 10-5 sleeper and a County series 13 bedroom sleeper. The Empire State Express will come as a five car set including baggage, parlor, diner, coach, and observation; with an individual baggage tavern car; and two car sets containing either two coaches or a parlor and diner.

Roundhouse Trains will be producing HO scale 40 foot wood box cars in Rio Grande, GN, Nickel Plate, Rock Island, SP&S, and San Diego & Arizona Eastern.

Go Green with Walthers! In late 2009 and throughout much of 2010 Walthers will be producing the products for their latest HO scale industry theme - North American Ethanol! Walthers will be producing eight new Cornerstone series structure kits: Corn Loading & Unloading Shed, Corn Storage & Elevator, Processing Center, Cooling Tower, Fermentation Tanks, Fermentation Tank Detail Kit, Energy Center, and Tanks, Pipes, Loading/Unloading Rack. Other items to go along with this industry will include: new Evans 4780 covered hopper in MKT/UP, Soo Line, CP, DM&E, EEC, and ADM (two schemes); Trinity 6351 four bay covered hopper in North American Ethanol, ADMX, TILX/Vera Sun Energy, MWTX, CRDX, and TILX; a Trinity 30145 gallon ethanol tank car in North American Ethanol, TILX/Global, NATX/RPMG, GATX/Abengeoa Bio, MWTX, and TILX; and a Proto 2000 SW9/1200 diesel switcher in North American Ethanol/NAEX with or without DCC and sound.

Walthers has announced HO scale Proto 2000 FM H10-44 diesel switchers in Santa Fe (blue/yellow), CNW, SLSF/Frisco, and Milwaukee - these will all be available with or without DCC and sound; PS 10-6 sleeping cars in Pennsylvania (UP style yellow and gray for through service), Penn Central, SCL, and RF&P (tuscan red for through service with Pennsylvania); PS-2 2893 three bay covered hoppers in CNW, Burlington, SP, Soo, Milwaukee, and ACL; Bi-level auto carriers in Norfolk Southern, CSX, CP, TFM, and BN; Trinity two bay cement covered hoppers in BNSF, CRDX, ITLX, Wisconsin Central, DM&E, and Blue Circle Cement; Thrall all door box cars in Lignum, BC Rail, Plum Creek, BCFX, Canfor, Weyerhaeuser, and Potlatch.

In N scale, Walthers will be offering Difco dump cars in six road names including Chessie/B&O and Southern; and five unit articulated double stack well cars in TTX in four different car numbers.

Also, the new 2010 Walthers Reference Books (or catalogs if you prefer) will be priced the same this coming year as last year, $14.98 each. The HO Reference book will be available by September; the N and Z book should be available by October. A hint from the cover of the 2010 HO book: a new Walthers HO passenger train will likely be announced which is painted yellow and gray with red lettering.
